_TXT Edward (Eddy) was the second child born from the Marriage of Walter Church and Catherine Elizabeth Cornforth.
He was born at Devonport, Suburb of Plymouth, England, on Wednesday the 1st of January, 1941,
The Family; his Mother, Eddy and his elder Sister Sylvia left Devonport during the Blitz of 1943 and moved to New Silksworth, Sunderland, Co. Durham.
Their Father, Walter was Killed in Action while on Service for the Royal Navy, when their Ship (....................) was sunk by German Aircraft in 1944.
They moved again in 1952 to West Shield Villas, Stanley, Co. Durham. Eddy was educated at West Stanley Junior School and at Shield Row Secondary Modern,
He left School at the age of 15 and worked for himself as a Fishmonger, selling his Goods from a Horse and Cart to local Villages for approx one Year.
On leaving the Fish trade he found work in the Coal Mines employed as a Lumber Leader carting Timber up to the Coal Face by Pit Pony or by Hand aboard small Rail Wagons to be used as shorings to prevent caving, for the princely sum of 7 Pounds 7 shillings and 6 Pence a
Week.
He lasted 18 Months in the dirty and dangerous Job before seeking work as a Bakery Salesman for the Co-op Bakeries at Concert, Durham. Twelve months later at the age of 18 he left the Bakery and worked as a Driver's Mate on Heavy Haulage Vehicles for Siddle C. Cook Heavy Haulage Limited at ................for 21 Pound 17 Shillings & 6 Pence a Week.
At the age of 20 he was elevated to the position of Lorry Driver, driving a 25Ton Bull Nose Articulated Scammel.
On Saturday the 19th of October, 1963 he Married Patricia Wendy Vaughan at St. Mary's Parish Church, Wickham.
Just prior to the Birth of their 1st child, Susan, on Wednesday the 9th day of September, 1964, at Dilston Hall, Hexham, he left the Heavy Haulage Job and purchased his own Wagon for 100 Pounds and sold Fruit & Vegetables to the local Villagers.
Their Second child, Christopher, was born at Dunston on Friday the 24th of September, 1965 by this time Eddy had progressed into buying and selling Furniture from a Small Shop he purchased for 200 Pounds, doubling as a Furniture Remover when required.
Jane, their third child was born on Monday the 26th August, 1968, at Murray House, Shotley Bridge, and four years later their fourth and last child, Robert, on Thursday the 26th of October, 1972.
In 1989 they purchased a Small Holding at Red Row of approx 21 Acres Northumberland to Grow and Sell all manner of Vegetables and Hay.
