"Yankee Doodle" is perhaps the most popular song from the American Revolution. A British surgeon named Dr. Richard Shackburg composed this song to make fun of the appearance of the American militiamen. However, it is said that the British troops retreating after Lexington and Concord were taunted by the Colonials singing "Yankee Doodle".
